Groundlvl

Night Time on Dubai’s Esplanade

Al Marwan Heavy Machinery

Groundlvl had the opportunity to capture Al Marwan Heavy Machinery’s long boom excavators in action during a nighttime operation on Dubai’s esplanade. As work continued into the evening, we documented the power and precision of these specialized machines tackling a massive marine construction project.

On-site were three long-reach excavators, including a Kobelco 85-tonne and a 95-tonne Caterpillar, both equipped with 26-metre booms. These giants of the construction world were hard at work, lifting massive rocks from the ocean and placing them onto a jetty, reinforcing the structure and ensuring its long-term stability. The sheer scale of this operation was impressive, showcasing the precision, strength, and expertise required for such demanding marine projects.

Filming in a challenging nighttime environment, we focused on capturing the raw power of the excavators, the intensity of the operation, and the seamless coordination of the Al Marwan team.

The Job
Groundlvl produced a high-quality video capturing the long boom excavators working in a challenging marine environment. The deliverables included a cinematic video showcasing the machines in action, dynamic drone and ground footage emphasizing their scale and precision, short-form social media edits highlighting key moments, and high-resolution images for Al Marwan’s marketing and promotional use.
The Method
Filming at night presented lighting and visibility challenges, requiring careful positioning to ensure the machinery and worksite were well-lit and visually engaging. The marine environment added complexity, with reflections and water movement affecting shot stability. Coordinating drone footage around the large-scale operation was also critical to capturing the full scope of the excavators' work without disrupting the workflow on-site.
The Coverage
To overcome these challenges, we utilized specialized low-light camera equipment to capture crisp, high-definition visuals despite the nighttime setting. Drone footage was carefully planned to provide aerial perspectives that showcased the excavators' reach and precision, while ground-level shots highlighted the power of the machines and the expertise of the operators. By working closely with the Al Marwan team, we ensured that filming did not interfere with operations.
The Final Result
The final video successfully showcased the power, precision, and coordination of Al Marwan’s long boom excavators in a complex marine environment. It served as a valuable marketing asset, reinforcing Al Marwan’s expertise in specialized heavy machinery deployment and their ability to execute large-scale projects with efficiency and skill. The project was well-received, providing engaging and visually striking content for Al Marwan’s digital platforms.
